FC 26 is the entry where EA finally listened. On the pitch it feels responsive and readable — fewer scripted-feeling moments, more matches decided by the player holding the controller. That matters double in a tournament setting, which is why it remains the beating heart of Cinga brackets and the local competitive scene.
The June World’s Game update is the headline: a 48-team international tournament mode with 53 licensed national teams, plus the Festival of Football campaign that handed every player who logged in a 93-rated Pelé Icon. Patch 1.6.3 followed at the end of June with sensible gameplay fixes. It’s the most generous FC has felt in a long time.
Ultimate Team still leans grindy, and menus remain FC menus. But between Career depth, the international update and the esports-ready balance, this is the definitive football game of the generation so far.
Verdict: 8.7/10. The one South African tournaments will be built on all year.
